MK Aikikai is a not-for-profit martial arts club that offers tuition in aikido, iaido and zazen.
Our mission is to promote the health and harmony of the individual through the above traditional Japanese arts, which then leads to harmony in the community. Aikido is a non-competitive martial art which emphasises compassion and co-operation, which naturally develops non-violent conflict resolution.
We hope to provide a sanctuary in Milton Keynes where individuals form all backgrounds can dedicate themselves to serious and sincere practice to develop themselves through the above arts. We promote further understanding of these traditional arts as well as other cultural activities by:
- enabling students to travel to other dojos and seminars
- brining high level instructors to Milton Keynes to teach
- Cultivating and supporting the next generation of instructors
In order to make these activities available to all, we provide financial assistance to those who are in need of it.
Our aim is to work towards a full-time, traditional dojo. Open 7 days a week, with morning, noon and evening classes. This is a very rare thing, especially for aikido, and will require years of hard work to achieve.
We welcome engagement with schools, community organisations, and other non-profits to share our practices.
Milton Keynes Aikikai is a member of the United Kingdom Aikikai, an organisation founded by William Smith sensei to promote quality instruction of traditional Aikido in the UK, as laid down by the founder Ueshiba Morihei O-sensei. The UKA is recognised by Hombu Dojo, Japan.
Milton Keynes Aikikai does not discriminate on the basis of age, ability, race, ethnicity, religion, gender or sexuality.
